A woman has found herself in the soup after tearing her host’s passport and Canadian work permit after a misunderstanding.

Her host reportedly sent her packing, prompting her to tear the passport and work permit. She was also said to have held onto the torn documents.

The matter was posted on Instagram by Nigerians_in_Canada, a page that discusses matters affecting Nigerians in the North American country.

The affected woman had to retrieve her torn documents with the help of the police.

The post also sought readers’ opinion on if the affected woman could convince the authorities not to press any charges on her former guest.

Qweenyinks said, “Person A is the reason people who are genuinely in need don’t get help. It’s not a criminal case but person A needs to be taught a lesson. A big lesson!”

Yinkusbites said, “Ah olopa ma ko everybody. Let person A face the consequences of Person A’s actions biko.”

Thomson_jr_: “This is not a civil matter. It’s a criminal matter. The law doesn’t listen to years and apologies. The only person to calm everything is person B, by not pressing criminal charges. I hope criminal charges are laid. If someone corks a gun to fire you and for some reason the gun didn’t fire, then consider the person your killer already. The implication of this is that, if the charges are laid, person A may end up serving a some time (depending on the charges) then deported or deported straight away, or if allowed to stay, it would be very difficult to attain PR if person A has not already attained PR.”

Israelgame: “Intentionally destroying someone’s property is a criminal misdemeanor offense, liable to 2-3years of jail time.”

Lollieworld6: “Dis is pure wickedness wat could have warrant d person to d extend of tearing ur fellow human success? I pray she will not come out of it.”

Iamdjmakson said, “Whether civil or criminal, Person A now has a record that could haunt her future! This is not Nigeria that you get away with things. This is a country where events are documented from your day of birth till your last breath. This behavior has a tendency of jeopardizing her future. Before anger gets the most of you, think of the consequences of your actions!”
