How To Contribute

We’re constantly excited to connect with fellow Nigerians in the diaspora keen on sharing their travel experiences and love for the enriching aspects of life abroad. We are also keen to collaborate with journalists, freelance writers, and adventurous souls to capture the essence of international travel and its profound impact on both individuals and the world around us.

What We Seek

We feature a wide range of stories from those that focus on your journeys oversee to the broader realm of travel. We are especially attracted to narratives that might offer practical tips for those planning to embark on a similar journey or simply serve as inspiration from your direct experience.

Explore our story types to gain a deeper understanding of what we’re eager to showcase.

Compelling Narratives

We’re on the lookout for first-person tales from our brothers and sisters in the diaspora – especially those who have experienced an Intrepid journey. If you’ve got a story to share, this is the place to begin! We’re not seeking travelogues or detailed itinerary summaries; instead, we’re interested in hearing about the transformative effects of travel on you or your worldview. Share the impactful moments, and craft your stories with a strong narrative arc, employing creative non-fiction techniques to vividly portray experiences rather than just describing them.

Memorable Journeys

These narratives could encapsulate your adventures in a specific destination or gather practical travel tips and advice you wish you had before embarking on your journey. We welcome insights from individuals with a passion for travel living in distant locales, offering valuable local perspectives on places many of us can only imagine visiting.

Thoughtful Perspectives

We embrace the opportunity to advocate for causes close to our hearts, such as climate concerns, wildlife preservation, social justice, and inclusivity. While our opinions are intricately linked to the nature of our travels and the communities we engage with, we actively encourage individuals whose journeys have ignited a personal call to action to share their voices. We aim to amplify your unique perspective and contribute to meaningful conversations.

Our Guidelines

  • Ensure that you have firsthand experience of the travel destination you wish to write about.
  • Visit our website to verify that your idea hasn’t been covered before.
  • Your content should harmonize with the Japajantis concept and not contradict it.
  • Please use our Contact Form to pitch your ideas to our editors; avoid submitting finished articles to prevent any potential time investment in writing something we may not publish.
  • We seek authentic, original writing with personality and genuine, firsthand knowledge of the destination.
  • Photos are crucial! Inform us if you have images or videos to complement your story, preferably horizontal and at least 2000 px wide.
  • We cannot accept content that has already been published online, including on personal blogs.
  • If our editors find your idea promising and your writing style aligns with ours, they will reach out with more information regarding contributor guidelines.
  • Given the high volume of daily pitches, kindly be patient, and understand if we choose not to pursue your idea.
  • If your piece is published, you will have the option to feature your byline, a headshot, and a bio.
