So you love travelling to exotic locations and you are tired of the usual places. You are not alone. Variety is the spice of life, so it makes sense that you are craving something different.

The good news is that what you want is available, and there are plenty of options. The problem is that these places are not hyped enough, and they do not get the publicity that other top destinations do. Yet, they provide premium luxury to make you feel like a king or queen. In fact, you will find yourself wanting to go back for another getaway. From breathtaking landscapes to cultural diversity and exclusivity, you will experience refined luxury, intimacy, and connection with nature.

Therefore, here are the top 7 underrated destinations for a quick getaway.

7 underrated destinations for a quick getaway

Ecuador

Ecuador

You may have heard of Ecuador, even know that the country is located in South America. But you probably have not considered it as a perfect place for a getaway.

Ecuador is literally at the centre of the world, which is where the country got its name from. The equator runs through it, which never ceases to amaze many who have visited the country.

Ecuador is also known for its amazing cultural, historical and natural sites, which is why it is surprising that many travellers do not talk about it enough.

Tunisia

Tunisia

If you are a fan of ancient civilisation and Mediterranean destinations, you should definitely put Tunisia on the list of places you wish to visit at least once. Located in North Africa, Tunisia is renowned for blending so many cultures together, from its French history to Islamic traditions.

Like in many North African countries and the Middle East, Tunisia has plenty of ancient ruins and artifacts sprinkled among the jaw-dropping sites. These sites are also natural and man made and are very inspiring.

Tunis, the nation’s capital, is also deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is on the water, decorated with beautifully detailed tiles and architecture. It has a lot museum and cafes that you cannot get tired of sightseeing.

Belize

Belize

Belize is a small country but filled with adventures. Located in Central America on the Caribbean Sea, this small country is a haven for nature lovers.

When you think of the world’s largest greenhouse, think of Belize. With luscious greenery and fauna, locals think of their country as their “eco home.” Belize has also tried to retain its authentic natural beauty, so you will find millions of species and ecosystems when you explore through hiking, snorkeling and scuba diving or strolling through the cities to learn more about the country’s ancient history and archeological finds.

One of the major attractions of this country is the Great Blue Hole, which is the largest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere at over 400 feet deep and almost 1,050 feet in diameter. It is an incredibly picturesque location that is perfect for swimming, diving and helicopter tours.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia

Still on ancient civilisation, Ethiopia is one of the African countries with a rich ancient history. Its historic rock-carved churches, castles, and natural wonders are completely different from other parts of Africa and the world. And the food? It is just one of the best in the world.

In fact, it is almost worth travelling to Ethiopia just for the food. With cuisines such as kitfo (ground, spiced beef), misir & gomen (spiced veggies), tibs and more, Ethiopian foods are rich in spice, flavour and more preferably eaten in the country than anywhere else.

There are other hot locations to explore in this East African country such as the Danakil depression where you will see lava flow, and Bale Mountains National Park. You will also get to visit the Axum, an ancient city with UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the original 4th century obelisk, the Queen of Sheba’s palace and more.

Georgia

Georgia

When you think of Georgia, think of Tbilisi, the charming capital where you will enjoy culture, fine wine, and scenic views. A unique blend of medieval, Soviet, and modern architecture, this city is also home to world-class wineries where you can sample Georgia’s famous amber wines for a far lesser price than anywhere else.

Luxury hotels start at just $50 per night. In addition, you will enjoy the city’s warm hospitality, historic bathhouses, and delicious cuisine, which makes it one of the perfect destinations for a quick getaway.

Uganda

Uganda

While it is common for everyone to go to Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania for tourism in East Africa, Uganda is often overlooked despite having less expensive, world class national parks and other tourist attractions.

The people are extremely friendly and you can do gorilla trekking in their national parks. You can also visit Lake Buyonyi, a magical blue lake and one of the deepest lakes in Africa, where you can paddle around in a dugout canoe, relax, and stay in a small resort.

There is also Hike Mt. Elgon, a beautiful volcanic mountain where you can trek for 4 to 5 days and sleep in a cave under a waterfall.

Luxembourg

Luxembourg

A small country situated between France, Germany and Belgium, Luxembourg may not be on your list of perfect getaway destinations but it does offer everything you dreamed of when it comes to vacationing in Western Europe.

With its castles and fortresses and its quaint towns, Luxembourg is a scene out of fairytales. In fact, its bustling cities and many cultural festivals and museums are the reason why the country is named The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

So, think of magic, royalty and serenity and you have Luxembourg. Also, think of the country’s never-ending natural beauty, glistening lakes and towering mountains and you can imagine why you should never underrate Luxembourg as a perfect getaway destination.

Conclusion

There you have the top 7 underrated luxury destinations for a quick getaway. The common thing about these destinations is you get to enjoy luxury services for a less expensive price. As the summer is approaching, try something different. Visit any of these destinations and you will never regret making the decision.
